Folkloric

The looks featured in this collection were based on our research regarding Brazilian folklore, arts and crafts and popular culture.

The hand-painted figures and ornaments embody themes from the popular imaginary, the symbology and religiosity of folklore, culture and craftsmanship of diverse regions of Brazil and their festivities, such as: the Folguedo, the Reisado, the Maracatu, the Mascarados de Poconé, the Cangaço, the dolls from Gravatá, among others.

Fashion is the element of individual expression for collective perception of the imaginary depicted here, and can be understood as “mobile art”. The rightness and meaning of elements from the Brazilian folklore are described in each of the piece’s tags.

Fruto do Conde strongly believes in the importance of the restoration and appraisement of the arts and crafts as artistic expression, in the opposing direction of fast-fashion.
