About us
The purpose of Fruto do Conde is to produce limited edition, tailor-made art garments, with a strong focus on artisanal creation. Our clothes present exclusive concept, design and artwork, many of which feature hand-painted elements.
For each collection, an extensive research for the theme and concept to be developed is carried out with a lot of care and affection. We are a slow fashion brand which values highly the diligence and quality of our products.
Many of Fruto do Conde’s collections address themes associated with spirituality, religiosity, mysticism, alchemy and surrealism. Our medieval contemporary Arte Sacra (Sacred Art) collection brings angels, symbols of Catholic faith and the evocation of the language of Kabbalah to clothing.
The Folclórica (Folkloric) collection brings delicate artisanal, handmade work, depicting the imaginary and folklore of diverse regions of Brazil. The paintings refer to popular culture manifestations, the religious universe involved in traditional Brazilian festivities and dances, such as the Folguedo, the Maracatu, the Reisado, dances of the Cavalo Marinho and the Mascarados de Poconé.
The Crioula (Creole) collection was based on a research of French theatre costumes, as well as the baiana fashion style and creole jewellery from 18th century Brazil. The jewellery includes the representation of symbols for spiritual protection, in connection with the energy of the Orixás (Afro-Brazilian deities), that were used as amulets to bring fertility, avoid diseases and evils, along with other benefits. The translation of these universes in the garments aim to disseminate the history and culture of Brazil.
It is a pleasure to be able to create pieces that combine fashion with art, to clients of whom we are so fond, and who appreciate the exclusive work made by Fruto do Conde.
